Despite being futuristic, some iFolks have reportedly experienced a Magic Mouse 2 issue on Mojave, showing that the innovative product may not be without faults. According to them, it sometimes doesn't work when they try to right-click on their mouse. Even if they already enabled the new peripheral in System Preferences, nothing happens.

If you are among those users who are having a hard time using their Magic Mouse 2 because it is not working in macOS Mojave, fret not. You've come to the right place, as below are several possible solutions to your problem.

But before you jump to any conclusion, be sure you check the battery status of your mouse first. If it is low in power, you have to replace your batteries.

Solution #1: Delete the Bluetooth.plist file.

More often, the reason why Magic Mouse 2 is not working properly is an invalid Bluetooth.plist file. To fix that, follow these steps:

1. Go to Finder and open Go menu.
2. Select Go to Folder.
3. In the text field, enter'/Library/Preferences'.
4. Click Go.
5. Find the apple.Bluetooth.plist file.
6. Click on that file and transfer it to your Desktop. You can use the CMD + C command to copy the file and the CMD + OPT + V to paste the file into its new location. Alternatively, you can simply delete the file by pressing the CMD button on your keyboard and then clicking on the file. Next, select Move to Trash. To be safe, it's idea to back up the file first.
7. Finally, restart your Mac.

After you restart your Mac, your system will recreate the file you have moved or deleted. Magic Mouse 2 should work properly now, but if it doesn't then try the next solution.

Solution #2: Update OS X Mojave.

Have you already updated your macOS? If not, then it could be one reason why Magic Mouse 2 is not working on your Mac. Update your macOS to the latest version available for your device.

Here's how to update your macOS:

1. Open the App Store.
2. Click the Updates icon on the topmost part of your screen.
3. If you see any software update available for your Mac, then install it.

If your Magic Mouse 2 is still not cooperating, you can proceed to the last solution.

Solution #3: Restart Magic Mouse 2 and your Mac.

If all else fails, try to restart both your Mac and Magic Mouse 2. The steps below will serve as your guide:

1. Open System Preferences.
2. Select Mouse -> Preferences.
3. Disable the Secondary Click option.
4. Restart your Mac.
5. Once it restarts, navigate to System Preferences -> Mouse -> Preferences.
6. Enable the Secondary Click option again.

If the steps above do not help, restart your Magic Mouse 2. Do this by removing the batteries and putting them back in. Then, toggle off and on your Mac's Bluetooth. You can also try to unpair and pair your mouse again.

Solution #4: Enable Magic Mouse 2 gestures.

Of course, you need to check if gestures are enabled. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to System Preferences -> Mouse.
2. You should see two tabs: Point & Click and More Gestures.
3. Navigate to the Scroll Direction section. Select Natural. Although it is enabled by default, you can decide to switch it off if you prefer.
4. Look for the Secondary Click option. Make sure it is enabled so your Magic Mouse 2 will respond to double-clicks and right-clicks.

Solution #5: Clean your Mac.

Customizing Magic Trackpad Gestures

Make sure that the Magic Trackpad is turned on and that it is connected via Bluetooth to your computer. Note that views may differ depending on your OS version and whether or not you are using a MacBook or a Mac desktop.

Magic Mouse Functions

1. Go to your System Preferences > Trackpad. Do not go into your Mouse settings. You won't find the Magic Trackpad there.
   
2. Go to Set Up Bluetooth Trackpad. If you just turned your trackpad on, it may take a while for your computer to detect it.
   
3. Once detected, navigate back to the main Trackpad window.

Adjusting Basic Trackpad Settings

Some customizations you may want to make to your trackpad are similar to those you would make on a mouse or laptop trackpad. You can find these options under Point & Click and Scroll & Zoom.

• Point & Click: You can set up your basic tap click commands and tracking speed (how fast the cursor moves) under this first tab.
  
• Scroll & Zoom: These gestures control the direction in which you want objects on your screen to move according to your gestures. It will also determine the gesture to zoom in and rotate images.
  

These are the gestures that you'll typically be using most often, so spend more time customizing these trackpad features to your preferences. You can always figure out the 'fancier' gestures later. But for basic set up, these will do.

More Gestures

If you go into the More Gestures tab, you'll find advanced gestures. Though you may not use these gestures all the time, they are still helpful if you know what you're doing. You'll notice that some commands give you finger combination/gesture options while others, like Show Desktop and Launchpad, will only let you disable or enable the feature.

Troubleshooting Gestures

If your gestures aren't working on the trackpad, but your trackpad still is, right away, go into your System Preferences. You may have accidentally disabled something or forgotten the gesture you assigned. If that isn't the case, try the following:

• Also, make sure that you aren't accidentally placing an extra finger on the trackpad when you go to make your gesture.
• Jewelry and other Bluetooth devices could be interfering with your technology, as well. If there are multiple devices hooked up to Bluetooth, disconnect some of them to 'make room' for your trackpad. Take off any bracelets or rings you may be wearing on that hand.
• Clean the surface of your trackpad with a dry, soft cloth. If your trackpad is wet or lotion rubbed off from your hand onto the surface, it can reduce and interfere with trackpad sensitivity.
• Check your trackpad's battery level. Do this by going into your trackpad's System Preferences.

If this fails, start your Mac in safe mode and do some investigating.

Magic Trackpad versus Magic Mouse

If you are a laptop user, you'll be more familiar with the benefits and frustrations of using a trackpad over a mouse, but if you're a desktop user, the opposite is true.

The Magic Trackpad is a large, separate trackpad from the computer. It is not attached to it by anything other than Bluetooth connectivity. It is ergonomic in its design and gives your hand a bigger surface to work on. It does take up more space and tends to be more expensive than the mouse.

The Magic Mouse is just like the trackpad, but a mouse. You can still perform gestures on it, but you are using a mouse at the end of the day. You would customize these mouse gestures as you would with the trackpad.
